Spring Family Fun Fest Celebrates Community

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The annual event returns Saturday in Southeast Fresno. Everyone is invited to this diverse community event that offers resources, food, games, and prizes.

Richard Castorena is the Executive Director of Binational Central California.

He says this event is about learning about the resources in the Central Valley.

“The most important part of this event is that there are activities for kids with drawing, coloring, and learning. That keeps them busy while mom and dad really learn how they can receive services for the entire family,” he said.

Binational Central California worked with Fresno EOC and the California Food Bank to host this event with thousands of people expected to attend.

Castorena says the three agencies have coordinated with thirty other agencies and programs to offer services and resources.

The California Food Bank will offer three hundred boxes of food for families in need. Donated meat will also be handed out.

Castorena says free food will be on hand and ready to eat for children. Affordable meals will also be available for purchase. Local food trucks will be also there for the public to buy lunch.

Vendors will have games for children to play. Plus, they can meet their favorite mascots, princesses, and or superheroes.

Raffle prizes will be given out. Castorena said he will be giving out a hundred Starbucks gift cards.

“You don’t even enter your name into a drawing. We are going to give them to people just having a good time,” he said.

The free event will take place at Mosqueda Park at 4670 E. Butler Avenue in Fresno, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.
