Sponsorship to fund immersion experience in Japan for Cold Springs senior

Apr. 22—One Cold Springs High School senior will embark on a six-week cultural immersion experience in Japan this summer. Clayton Gary was awarded the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Japanese Exchange Program Sponsorship.

"Clayton is a very talented and deserving student, for being selected as one of only 14 students from across the United States for the prestigious FCCLA Japanese program," said FCCLA Adviser, Stephanie Blair in a press release.

This opportunity includes a $9,995 sponsorship from Kikkoman Corporations administered by Youth For Understanding USA.

According to a press release, "FCCLA believes in the power of family living as the foundation of overseas learning. By embracing the day-to-day life of another country and its people, Clayton will be gaining a deep insight into global issues, broadening your horizons in ways he may have never thought possible."

"Gary will be in the midst of time-honored traditions, from savoring the serenity of a traditional tea ceremony to mastering martial arts and immersing himself in the lively atmosphere of local summer festivals. The journey for this senior at Cold Springs will be embarking on cultural immersion, personal growth and memories that will last a lifetime," said Blair.
