Sony has released a short film expanding the universe of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.
Called The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story, it follows fledgling superhero Miles Morales as he experiences a devastating panic attack that forces him to reckon with his anxiety - one of the hidden costs of becoming saviour to an entire city.
“We are proud to officially debut The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story, in partnership with the Kevin Love Fund,” writes Sony Pictures Animation in its press release. “Because everyone is going through something, even superheroes like Miles Morales.”
Sony Pictures Animation is teaming up with the Kevin Love Fund and LENS, which is a nine-month leadership training program that helps candidates from underrepresented groups gain experience in animation. It's a way to empower minority voices and teach them the art of filmmaking.
That's how we've ended up with The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story. A six-minute story directed by Jarelle Dampier and written by Khaila Amazan, The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story is a digital-only release, which you can watch for free on YouTube below.
