Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is getting New Game+ and more features in a new game update now scheduled for “Early 2024.”

Fans have been asking for New Game+ for a long while but, following a now typical PlayStation games’ roadmap, it won’t be coming until a few more months after launch.

Developer Insomniac Games teased a beefy roadmap of free updates in a lengthy post on social media, sharing that the team will be sharing “more with you in the future,” including a “feature-complete list” of content coming “closer to its release.”

“We have some news about the next game update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” says the post shared on X. “We know players have been eagerly awaiting features such as New Game+ and Audio Descriptions, among many more. We have been working vigilantly on these features and require more testing to ensure the quality is up to our standards.”

Therefore, “we are now targeting Early 2024 [...]. We’ve heard your feedback and will be adding some highly requested features, including the ability to change the time of day, swap tendril colors, and replay missions - just to name a few!” as “our team works to finish our next update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.”

Despite the internal delay – Insomniac had never shared a release window for the next update – the roadmap is bigger than expected, as features such as changing the time of the day and replaying missions were not part of the plan.

PlayStation’s end of 2023 and early 2024 release schedule is quite busy at the moment, with God of War Ragnarok getting its Valhalla free roguelite DLC on December 12, 2023, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered coming to PS5 on January 19, 2024. That’ll help make the wait for Spider-Man 2’s New Game+ more sustainable, for sure.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 hit an amazing 90/100 Metascore on reviews aggregator Metacritic, as critics and players alike thought it was an upgrade compared to the original game and sequel Miles Morales.

Sales also reflected that, as it’s now the fastest selling PlayStation Studios game in PlayStation history with more than 2.5 million copies sold through in the first 24 hours.

Plans for the future most likely won’t stop with New Game+ and more updates, as rumors of a Venom spin-off are already spreading, on top of Marvel’s Wolverine coming at some point over the next couple years.
