Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped shallots

  • 1 1/2 cups diced peeled Honeycrisp apple

  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard seeds

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

  • Dash of kosher salt

  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons water

Directions

  1. Heat a small saucepan over medium-high. Add oil; swirl to coat. Add shallots; cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add apple; cook 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in mustard seeds, sugar, pepper, cloves, and salt. Add vinegar and 2 tablespoons water; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes or until apples are tender and most of liquid is absorbed.
