How to Spend Your JFK Layover at the TWA Hotel's Rooftop Pool Without Booking a Room
When the TWA Hotel opened in May, layovers at John F. Kennedy International Airport got a whole lot more fun. No matter how long your delay or layover, it’s hard to complain when you find yourself lounging in the TWA Hotel’s rooftop pool overlooking the airport.
That one-of-a-kind JFK perk is still available to non-hotel guests — but now, you have to pay.
The hotel has started charging non-hotel guests who want to access the rooftop pool or observation deck — and taking a plunge can cost anywhere from $25 to $50, depending on when you go and how you choose to pay.
A weekday day pass costs $25, while a weekend day pass is $50 per person, according to the hotel's website. However, if you opt to eat and drink at the hotel rather than stopping by the airport Shake Shack, you can get access to the facilities by spending at least $50, plus a 20 percent gratuity, at the pool’s restaurant and bar. This option, while arguably the better deal, only gives you access to the facilities for up to two hours, while buying a day pass opens doors from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Prior to announcing the new non-guest charges, TWA Hotel allowed non-guests to make reservations for the observation deck for free via the hotel’s website. Now, the hotel suggests that all visitors purchase their day pass in advance on the TWA Hotel website.
These new charges don’t impact TWA Hotel guests, who can still access the facilities free of charge. Hotel guests can also invite non-guests to the rooftop pool for $25 per person.
The pool, which is capable of being heated up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit is open year-round and the water purifies itself completely every 30 minutes. The 10,000-square-foot observation deck boasts views overlooking the airport’s Runway 4 Left/22 Right and Jamaica Bay.
