Specialized just released a new model in the brand's popular Sirrus series—the 2023 Sirrus X 5.0, which is billed as “the next generation of comfort and speed”—and it couples performance features with a design that focuses as much on comfort as it does capability.

An excellent option for a city commuter, the Sirrus X 5.0 is equipped with a fender, bottle cage, and rack mounts for cargo, and the internal cable routing gives it a sleek look. Disk brakes and wide tires give you the freedom to hit gravel and dirt with precision, while the brand's unique Future Shock suspension keeps frequencies from potholes and bumps from reaching the handlebars.

At just 24 pounds, the carbon frame's lighter weight allows for maneuverability you won't typically find in a model historically seen as a comfort commuter. The frame's striking geometry is what the brand refers to as “Compliance Junction,” which provides a little flex to the rear end for improved forgiveness and comfort.

For those that find themselves out of the city and whose rides take them on gravel paths, the frame provides clearance for 700cx42mm tires (without fenders), so the bike can be tricked out to be used as a flat-bar gravel option. It also has a 1x SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain for a simplified ride experience and improved efficiency.

According to Specialized, “by eliminating the front derailleur, a 1x drivetrain results in fewer 'oops' moments—fewer cables and parts, less shifting required, and fewer things to go wrong.”It's priced at $2,250 and available in sizes XS-XXL, with the carbon layup of each frame tuned specifically so that the ride quality remains consistent no matter the size.

The Sirrus X 5.0 has the versatility to be a daily commuter, as well as perform on the trails, all in a sleek package. The lightweight frame and smooth shifting will please commuters and fitness enthusiasts, and its advanced components allow for both on and off-road exploration. It's a comfortable ride with an expansive route.
