Specialized dog wellness center Scenthound opens in Tampa Bay
LUTZ, Fla. (BLOOM) — The Tampa Bay area is about to get a new destination for dog wellness as Scenthound opens its first location at 17663 N Dale Mabry Hwy in Lutz on May 22. This new “Scenter,” part of a planned expansion by local franchisees Amanda and Adrian Alvarez, aims to make preventive care and routine hygiene accessible for all dogs in the region.
The Alvarez couple, both Florida natives with a deep background in franchising, chose Scenthound to diversify their business portfolio. They have ambitious plans to open two more locations in Trinity and Wesley Chapel soon.
“Scenthound is an industry leader for dog wellness,” said Adrian. He emphasized the importance of dog care that adapts to economic shifts, noting that “dogs are not just pets but family members who share our homes and lives.”
Amanda highlighted the inclusive approach of their Scenthound location, which will offer flexible care to accommodate dogs with special needs, such as anxiety or physical disabilities. “Misunderstood dogs won’t be turned away here,” she stated.
The couple, married for 13 years and parents to three daughters, are committed to educating the community about the importance of regular dog care. Amanda, balancing her role as a mom and business owner, said, “Scenthound has made my life easier, and we hope to extend that comfort to more residents in Tampa.”
The new Scenthound will create about 10 local jobs and will provide a range of services, from basic hygiene to more specialized care. Each visit includes a “basic hygiene” package and a detailed wellness check focusing on a dog’s skin, coat, ears, nails, and teeth.
