You Can Use These Speaker Light Bulbs to Assemble a Makeshift Surround Sound System
Built-in speakers offer a listening experience–whether it’s of music, TV shows, or movies–like no other. The only downside is that they’re relatively expensive. The good news: You can easily hack your way into getting that surround sound effect without investing a ton. All you have to do is replace your regular lightbulbs with ones that double as speakers. Yes, that's right: lightbulb speakers.
GE's LED speaker lightbulbs are total gamechangers. TikToker @kylehiggns shared his discovery of the bulbs while he was at Target looking for regular ones and decided to give it a try. He shared that the bulbs are kind of heavy and connect through Bluetooth, so you can pair them with your phone, computer, or any other Bluetooth-capable device. The bulbs even come with a remote for you to easily control the lighting and speaker. The one lightbulb he tested out seems to carry a pretty loud sound, but you can sync up to 10 bulbs for a major surround sound effect.
The bulbs should last more than 22 years if you use them three hours per day and don't work with dimmer light switches. They're available at Target for $34.99 each. Considering they’re super easy to install and seem to carry a loud sound, that’s a pretty good deal! If you usually use a portable or stationary speaker, these would help free up any space that those take up, too.
