Spanx Expands Into Bridal With the Prettiest Lace Shapewear Ever

"Pretty" and "shapewear" in the same sentence? Revolutionary.

If there’s a time in life when it's necessary to drop some cash on specialty underwear, it’s wedding season (see: fussy dresses and endless photos). The new Spanx bridal collection aims to make those hardworking formal-occasion undergarments slightly prettier, too. The company, famous for making all kinds of smoothing, lifting, and otherwise high-tech underpinning, has been outfitting brides, bridesmaids, and wedding guests for years, and sensed a opportunity in the market for something more sexy-selfie friendly. And boy, did it deliver.

Featuring lace and mesh fabrications rendered in soft, pretty colors like “vintage rose” and “classic gray,” Spanx’s “Spotlight on Lace” collection—comprised of a bralette, bodysuit, brief, and high-waist brief—aims to bridge the gap between sexy lingerie and practical shapewear as never before. Released this week, the collection ranges from $42 to $74, with three of the four styles available in sizes up to 2X (the bodysuit is available up to a size XL/D-cup). The styles use strategic panels and single-layer mesh to "target the tummy." According to the company, the collection offers the softest, lightest shaping possible, which also makes it comfortable enough for everyday wear.

Spanx founder Sara Blakely, shared her vision for the collection in a statement:

“When I invented Spanx 16 years ago, the most important thing to me was creating product that would make millions of women feel good in their clothes. And it does! Women, especially brides and bridesmaids, have been asking for product that they could wear on their special day that was pretty, AND powerful. We’ve been working on finding the perfect lace and mesh details to give her lightweight, no-show shaping….and we did it, we developed shaping lace. The lace is more than just pretty. It’s flexible and moves with you for a comfortable mobile fit.”

Wedding season, we’re ready for you.
