2017 is in a committed relationship with mashup foods — and now that spring is here, things just got even more serious. Spaghetti donuts are the latest food convergence to hit the scene, and while we were a little skeptical at first, they actually seem pretty delicious.

The savory treat is made by Pop Pasta and "combines a popular Neapolitan dish, the spaghetti pie (frittata di spaghetti) with an American food icon, the donut," its website reads. "In the Neapolitan tradition the spaghetti pie is a dish prepared with pasta leftovers combined with eggs and cheese and then fried. Traditionally the spaghetti are formed into large round pies and cut into slices." Okay, so it's basically spaghetti bound into a donut shape using yummy ingredients like egg and cheese? And we can conveniently eat them on the go? Yes, please. Plus, they come in a slew of mouth-watering flavors: Aglio e Olio Pop (spaghetti, Parmigiano, eggs, olive oil, garlic, red pepper, black pepper, and salt); Red Sauce Pop (spaghetti, Parmigiano, eggs, tomato puree, olive oil, and salt); Zucchini Pop (spaghetti, Parmigiano, eggs, zucchini, olive oil, garlic, black pepper, and salt); Carbonara Pop (spaghetti, Parmigiano, eggs, bacon, black pepper, and salt); and Bolognese Pop (spaghetti, Parmigiano, eggs, ground beef, olive oil, onions, garlic, and salt).

Spaghetti donuts made a splash at a Wednesday night press preview for Smorgasburg, a Brooklyn-based open-air flea market that features over 100 yummy food vendors, which reopens for business this coming weekend. Luigi Fiorentino, founder of Pop Pasta explained the creation, saying, "I've been cooking since I was 15 years old," Luigi said to Food & Wine. "And I've always liked to take a tradition and part with it in order to create something innovative. I went with something that’s very traditional, the spaghetti pie. The donut is like something you love already, but done in a different way."

Spaghetti donuts are not the first weird food mashup we've seen lately. To name a few, there's been the Mufgel (a muffin and bagel hybrid), the rainbow gelato and churro waffle sandwich (Wonder Woman-themed!), Cheetos Chicken Fries (Burger King's french fry-shaped chicken fingers breaded with Cheeto dust, and the Cereal Splashback (cereal-laced Ben & Jerry's ice cream). Hungry yet? All hail the food hybrid.
