Southwest's Latest Sale Has Flights Across the U.S. and Mexico for As Low As $39 — When to Book

The sale ends on Nov. 2.

Southwest Airlines is getting into the Halloween spirit with a spooktacular sale that has one-way flights as low as $39.

The sale, which must be booked by 11:59 p.m. PT on Nov. 2, is available for travel from Nov. 23 through May 22, 2024, according to the airline. While there are some blackout dates, the sale does include travel across the United States over the Thanksgiving holiday, which falls on Nov. 23, on Christmas Day, and on New Year’s Day.

The sale is blacked out in the contiguous U.S. on Dec. 26, on Dec. 27, and on Jan. 2. Travel to and from Orange County is also blacked out from Nov. 23 through Jan. 2, while travel from the contiguous U.S. to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and international destinations is blacked out from Dec. 19 through Jan. 3 and from March 12 through March 27.

“Plan a getaway with your boo!” Southwest wrote on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, about the sale.

For just $39, travelers can fly from Atlanta to Louisville, from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, from New Orleans to Austin, from San Diego to Sacramento, and more. Travelers can also fly cross-country for less with flights from New York to Palm Springs starting at just $159 one-way and one-way flights from Los Angeles to Charleston also starting at just $159.

Or plan a beach escape with one-way flights to Los Cabos starting at just $206 from Los Angeles, one-way flights to Puerto Vallarta starting at just $246 from Fort Lauderdale, and one-way flights to Cancun starting at just $254 from New York.

The sale comes just days after Southwest — which is in the process of upgrading its onboard experience — announced brand-new routes to the Caribbean, Mexico, and beyond for next summer. Starting in June 2024, the airline will launch nonstop routes between Orlando and Cancun, Grand Cayman, Nassau, Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, Punta Cana, and San José, Costa Rica.

It also comes amid changes to Southwest’s loyalty program in which the airline made it easier for customers to earn status in 2024. In addition, Southwest is also making it easier to earn a popular Companion Pass for a limited time by giving registered travelers who fly by Nov. 30 double Companion Pass qualifying points on those flights.
