Southwest Is Bringing Back Several Routes to Cancun and Cabo — and Just Added a New Las Vegas Flight

The airline has also opened its booking schedule through Nov. 2.

Southwest has your 2024 travel plans covered with new and returning routes later this year.

Announced Thursday, the airline will launch new service from Memphis to Las Vegas on Oct. 3 and new service from Nashville to Richmond on Oct. 6. Flights from Memphis to Las Vegas will operate Thursday through Monday while flights from Nashville to Richmond will operate on Sundays.

That same week, Southwest will also bring back flights to Mexico on Oct. 5, including routes to Cancun from Nashville and Phoenix and a route from Austin to Cabo San Lucas. The airline will also resume flights from Kansas City to Cabo San Lucas.

Additionally, the airline opened its schedule for booking through Nov. 2.

Currently, Southwest is running a promotion for anyone who signs up for a new Southwest Rapid Rewards Consumer Credit Card from Chase can earn its beloved companion pass.

The airline announced 8.4 percent passenger growth, and previewed potential route changes earlier in 2024 during a recent earnings call.

"Our 2024 plan leverages a set of initiatives which, most importantly, includes better aligning the route network to new demand patterns,” Southwest CEO Bob Jordan said in the earnings release.

Southwest recently introduced a refreshed airplane cabin, with sleek airplane seats and larger bins. The new cabins will also be optimized for personal entertainment devices, as seats will have both USB-A and USB-C outlets, along with holders for tablets and phones.

"Our redesigned cabin interior significantly enhances our inflight Customer experience and will complement the amazing service that our Crews provide."
