Southwest Airlines Is Ending Discounted Flights For Senior Citizens
Unfortunate news is coming out of Southwest Airlines. The popular airline known for its fare rates (and also tasty peanuts) is apparently cutting its discounted fares for senior flyers.
According to the Southwest website, “As of December 11, 2019, Senior fares are no longer available for purchase,” the airline said in its online statement. “Our customers mean everything to us. We’re committed to providing friendly, reliable service and low fares with heart. You’ll still get all that with our other fare features.”
This comes as a subtle shock, as Southwest has allowed senior citizens over the age of 65 to have access to "Anytime Travel" tickets that they could purchase at a lower cost, according to Travel + Leisure.
The airline still mentions its dedication to having other amenities and benefits for all customers who choose to fly with the airline.

Other notable features that Southwest intends to keep include the refundable fares for the "Anytime" and "Select" flying opportunities.
And of course, the airline is also catering to many customers' other favorite services. There are reusable fund options, including future travel credits that can be used up to 12 months after the initial booking date. Also bags fly free, and there are no change fees. If you do have to cancel a flight, make sure to do it at least 10 minutes before the flight's departure.
The airline specifies on its website, "Customers who fail to cancel reservations for a 'Wanna Get Away' fare segment at least 10 minutes prior to travel and who do not board the flight will be considered a no show, and all remaining unused 'Wanna Get Away' funds will be forfeited."
Keep a look out for Southwest's sales that are frequently featured on its website for other opportunities to snag discounted travel.
