Southern Vermont's Largest Resort Blanketed By First Snow

November's arrival brought good news to Stratton Mountain Resort, Vermont: today, the ski resort announced that they'd picked up their first snowfall of the season.

Here's the announcement with a series of gorgeous photos to boot.

And the news isn't just about the natural stuff -- Stratton also noted that they plan to begin snowmaking efforts in the next 24 hours.

Stratton's planned opening date is right around the corner on November 18th. With the fresh snowfall and soon-to-be-initiated snowmaking efforts, the resort should have plenty of coverage to work with by the 18th.

The resort is an East Coast mainstay, so its impending opening will be good news for New York City, New York, and Boston, Massachusetts, skiers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. And, of course, Vermont locals who prefer to do their skiing in the neighborhood.

While the West had its moment, it's time for the East to shine. Winter's dropping the first East Coast storm cycles of the season and the recent blast of cold air has created optimal snowmaking conditions.

Now, all there is to do is wait and try to be patient. Game on? Game on.
