Southern California Ski Resort Bombarded With Multiple Feet Of Snow

Big Bear Mountain Resort—a resort collective that includes three ski areas in the Big Bear Lake, California, area—has received multiple feet of snow this week, with more on the way.

Today, Big Bear Mountain Resort issued the following 24-hour snowfall update for its ski areas:

Bear Mountain: 25 inches

Snow Summit: 25 inches

Snow Valley: 47 inches

And the wintry blast isn't letting up quite yet. NOAA reports that a foot of snow is possible at Big Bear Lake tonight. A winter weather warning is in effect in the area through tomorrow morning.

At the time of writing this, all of Big Bear Mountain Resort's access roads are open with chain restrictions in effect. To stay in the loop on the status of these roads, click here. They may close tonight.

The storm, while problematic for infrastructure, particularly in the lowlands where flooding has occurred, puts Big Bear Mountain Resort in a strong position looking forward snow pack-wise. And, of course, it's led to a week of powder skiing.
