Southern California Beach Goers Should Be Extra Cautious of Sharks This Summer

We all know that sharks are giant creatures, looming at the top of the food chain in the ocean. As rulers of the sea, you don't want to mess with them. Heck, we don't even want to be near them. We didn't think they would ever be a problem for us, until now.

According to a new study, sharks might be closer than you think in Southern California. The study's findings, posted by TikTok user @losangelespatch, are terrifying. Will you be swimming or surfing in the waters after hearing this?

O.M.G. We were already slightly terrified by the ocean to begin with so now you can forget about us ever getting in the water. This is SCARY! The study found that people are in close proximity to sharks about 97% of the time at California beaches. Uhm, no thank you! Sharks are only about 110 yards away from a wave break. Yep, that's it. No more swimming in the ocean for us.

"See this is why I don’t f with the ocean. I’m not going into their home," wrote @audreyaleese. You and us both! We'll stay on the sandy shores, reading a book and getting a little sun tan thank you very much!

While we're staying as far away as possible from sharks, others can't get enough. Some people will go diving in cages to get a closer look. Others will even run up and save a shark in need. That's what happened a few months ago when a shark got tangled in a fishing line in Australia. Those men are brave and we applaud them for saving the shark because all lives are precious, no matter how scary the animal.
