Sources say Hillary Clinton and Meghan Markle had mutual 'fan girls' moment when meeting for the first time

Meghan Markle reportedly secretly invited former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to meet her and Prince Harry's six-month-old son, Archie, on Tuesday at Frogmore Cottage, the royal couple's Windsor home.

According to the Daily Mail, sources say Markle and Hillary hugged when they met and had a "fan girl" meeting. The news breaks just days after Clinton appeared on BBC Radio 5 and defended the Duchess of Sussex as she deals with entering the public eye and the "ruthless campaign" launched by British tabloids.

During the interview, part of a publicity tour for The Book of Gutsy Women, co-authored with daughter Chelsea Clinton, Hillary said of Meghan, "Oh, my God, I want to hug her!"

The sources tell the outlet that Hillary cuddled the royal baby and told the former “Suits” star about Chelsea's new baby son and Hillary’s third grandchild, Jasper.

"Both women have a lot of admiration for each other and it was a very sweet, warm meeting," the source told the Daily Mail. "They are mutual fan girls!"

Hillary and Markle also spoke of a letter that the Duchess wrote to the former First Lady while her husband, Bill Clinton, served as president of the United States.

Markle appeared on Nickelodeon's “Nick News” in 1993 when she was just 11 years old after having written a letter to the show's host, Linda Ellerbee, as well as Hillary Clinton and Procter and Gamble, the company behind a commercial for Ivory soap, which stated, "Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans."

"I don't think it's right for kids to grow up thinking these things, that just mom does everything," Markle told “Nick News.” "It's always, 'Mom does this,' and 'Mom does that.'"

In the letter to Procter and Gamble, Markle suggested changing the commercial to "People all over America." The company ultimately took 11-year-old Markle's advice.

According to the sources, Markle and Hillary, who met for the first time, discussed the letter.

This is not the first time a royal baby has met a resident of the White House. In 2016, Prince George, aged two at the time, pulled the ultimate power move when he greeted President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama while donning a robe at Kensington Palace.
