Sour Cream Shortage Might Be Coming to a Taco Bell Near You

Things may be going sour at Taco Bell soon—and not in the creamy way.

The fast food restaurant is currently dealing with some supply chain issues, which could directly impact customers' orders, especially those that usually include a sour cream topping.

As warned in a recent new release, Taco Bell menus could be affected by an impending sour cream shortage, as employees at the the restaurant's supplier, New Dairy Select Milk, are currently on strike.

The news was confirmed by the labor union Teamsters Local 662, which has been representing the striking employees.

"The employees at New Dairy Select Milk are represented by Teamsters Local 662, and these employees are currently on strike," stated Teamsters Local 662 Secretary-Treasurer Tom Strickland. "Employees are striking for a better health insurance plan that will provide cost savings for them, the company, and the customers."

Apparently, the supplier in De Pere, Wisconsin supplies sour cream to every Taco Bell east of the Rocky Mountains, meaning that Taco Bell Crunchwraps could soon become a little bit less supreme throughout most of the nation.

"We're encouraging Taco Bell customers to reach out to the company's leadership and demand that their suppliers treat these hardworking men and women with the dignity and respect they deserve," said Peter Finn, Teamsters Western Region Vice President and Food Processing Division Director. "Borden Dairy's actions are irrational, irresponsible and bad for business."
