Since neither Cole Sprouse nor Lili Reinhart have commented on their alleged breakup (aside from a suspiciously timed Twitter like from Lili), fans have been left to deduce a lot from the little information we have been given. So, obviously when W Magazine came out with their August cover, which features the now reportedly defunct couple, everyone ran to see if it included any information on the reported split, and what the article has to say is super interesting...

Basically, while neither actor mentions anything about the breakup in the article, there are a lot of clues that the news is true, that the relationship is actually over, and it may have even ended months ago.

The article states that "two months later the two would part ways romantically," meaning we can assume the interviews for the piece were done in May. Even then, Lili and Cole opted to conduct separate interviews for the piece. While the author notes that this choice "might have been connected to the two of them being uncertain about their future together," Cole explains that he believes Lili "deserves her own voice box in every single way" and "that alone is justification enough," to do the separate interviews.

Again, not a confirmation, but definitely a suspicious decision for a couple who's on a magazine cover together, to do separate interviews for the piece to accompany it.

At one point, Lili does allude to a possible breakup, though she puts it in the context of their Riverdale counterparts. "If and when we break up on the show, I don’t know," she says. "It’s weird being with an actor. You deal with sh*t no one has to deal with."

If they are broken up, however, we may never even get confirmation. Both Lili and Cole talk in the article about their decision to keep their personal life private, and that include potential splits.

"I do appreciate the privacy we have, that [Cole's] encouraged me to take," Lili says, revealing that Cole has taught her to keep stronger boundaries between her and her fans. "No one knows how long we’ve been together, and no one will until we’re ready to say it. No one knows how we fell in love, except for our close friends and us. It’s really special."

Cole also commented on his appreciation for privacy, but he did say he understands why fans are so interested in their relationship. "I think part of the fun that the audience had, and still has, is going: What’s up with them right now? It’s interesting!" That being said, he's still not willing to give up too much information, and it seems like because of that, he may never comment on the current status of their relationship.

"In all honesty, my own happiness and her happiness come before caring about what people are saying."
