Sound the Alarm—Pumpkin Pies Are Back at Costco

To quote Poltergeist (and a text from my mother): "They're here!"

Costco's Kirkland Signature pumpkin pies are finally back.

While individual store selections may vary, as of Aug. 30, at least one Costco location (in Bridgewater, N.J.) already had the nearly 4-lb. delight in stock, surprising even some of the store's staff.

"One of the employees saw it in my cart and got very excited," my Costco-obsessed mom reported. "He said he didn't even know they were out yet and was going to buy one to take home."

Kirkland Signature pumpkin pies typically hit shelves around Sept. 1 each year and are one of Costco's top-selling items every fall and winter holiday season.

Costco Connection revealed in 2016 that the recipe for its Kirkland Signature pumpkin pies has been consistent since 1987 and that they're all baked in-house using the same base of pre-mixed dry ingredients and pureed Dickinson pumpkins. If you want to know just how beloved Costco pumpkin pies are, they even have an (unofficial) fan page on Facebook.

This year, the price of a Kirkland Signature pumpkin pir clocks in at $5.99. That's the same price as 2022, meaning rampant inflation and a pumpkin shortage haven't impacted its cost—much like the wholesale club's famous hot dogs at the food court. However, the Kirkland Signature pumpkin pie prices may vary by location: Some Costco members in Northern California reported that the pies were $7.99 at their local warehouses in 2022 and 2023.

Still, even the $7.99 price is a steal for the sheer quantity for dessert you get here: The pie yields 12 servings and is about a foot in diameter, so you'll want to make sure you have plenty of fridge space to dedicate to its presence. Trust us, they're worth it.

Another pro tip? Costco pumpkin pies also freeze remarkably well (especially if you freeze individual slices, which will also save you some room), so if you get a hankering for it in, say, March, you'll be in good shape if you stock up.
