WATCH: Sorry Texas: Alabama Longhorn Breaks Guinness World Record for Longest Horns

They might have originated in the Lone Star State, but the world’s most impressive Texas longhorn currently resides in Alabama.

Earlier this week, Guinness World Records announced that a seven-year-old Texas longhorn from Goodwater, Alabama, has earned a place in the record books thanks to his impossibly huge set of horns.

From tip to tip, the rack on Poncho Via spans a mind-boggling 10 ft 7.4 in. That’s more than twice the width of a concert grand piano, and wider than the Statue of Liberty’s face. Poncho’s horn span also beats that of the previous record holder—a longhorn steer called Sato, from Texasby just over an inch.

Poncho not only holds the record for the longest horns on a living steer, he also beat all previous records to claim the largest spread ever.

Poncho has lived on the Pope family ranch outside Birmingham since he was a weanling. Though he looks scary, the family told Guinness World Records that he's a big softie at heart. "He's just a big pet," patriarch Jeral's son, Dennis (aka Jeral Pope Junior), said. "He's had so many people over the years stop by to see him, feeding him treats, that he’s turned into a wonderful big pet."

Congrats, Poncho!
