Sophie Turner Thought Maisie Williams’s Arya Was Going to Kill Cersei in Game of Thrones Finale Season

Game of Thrones may be over, but we’re all still collectively holding a few last grudges following the show’s finale — and even Sophie Turner has some final thoughts on the show’s ending.

In an interview with The Wrap, Sophie, who portrayed Sansa Stark throughout the series’ eight-season run, recently revealed her dream ending for the show, and it involves none other than her real-life BFF and onscreen sister Maisie Williams.

“I thought Arya would kill Cersei,” Sophie admitted in the interview, and, I mean, who didn’t? GoT fans were unarguably anticipating Cersei’s demise at the hands of Arya Stark pretty much since she added her to her infamous “kill list” in the earlier seasons — and especially after Arya’s momentous killing of the Night King during the Battle of Winterfell.

Sophie definitely was in the same boat but, alas, it did not happen, and she is not too pressed about it. “I would like to have seen Sansa and Cersei reunited, or Arya and Cersei. But there were so many ways the story could have turned out. I felt very passionately about the ending for Sansa, and I was very happy with the ending that turned out for her,” Sophie admitted.

Sophie also opened up her journey on the series, which will be officially coming to an end at the 2019 Emmy Awards on September 22, where she’s nominated for supporting actress in a drama series alongside fellow GoT castmates Gwendoline Christie, Lena Headey, and Maisie Williams. Though she already shared a tear-jerking tribute saying goodbye to Sansa back in May, Sophie admitted her “biggest” breakdown moment “is yet to come.”

“I think it might be at the Emmys, because the Emmys are going to be the last time that we’ll ever see each other, at least as a cast,” Sophie revealed. “Or maybe I’ll never really say goodbye. It’s really my family, and because we love each other so much, it’ll be goodbye to the characters but not to each other.”

GoT for life indeed.
