Sophie Turner will star in a survival biopic, proving once again she’s a force to be reckoned with

Sophie Turner is living her best life. She’s engaged to Joe Jonas and rocking Westeros as Sansa Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones. And now, Sophie Turner will star in a survival biopic, proving yet again that the actress is a force to be reckoned with. Turner will produce and star in a film called Girl Who Fell from the Sky, about the lone survivor of a 1971 plane crash.

Sophie Turner will play Juliane Koepcke, who was stranded in the Peruvian forest for 11 days.

Koepcke fell 10,000 feet or “almost two miles through the air, before the canopy of the Amazon rain forest broke her fall” and saved her life in the process, Deadline describes. “The plane was incinerated; Koepcke was ejected, still belted to her seat.” From there, the teenage Koepcke “navigated through the treacherous jungles” of Peru before she was rescued, 11 days later.

Turner’s role, which Deadline announced, is being described as something like that of Sandra Bullock in Gravity. That’s because Girl Who Fell from the Sky centers on her character’s ability to keep herself alive in the wilderness, so there won’t be much opportunity to rely on other actors.

The survival biopic is yet another kick-ass role for Turner.

Mild-mannered Sansa Stark — whom Turner has played on Game of Thrones since 2011 — has evolved into a tough-talking, unapologetic badass and temporary leader of the north. Not to mention, her fierce Jean Grey was one of X-Men: Apocalypse‘s highlights. The natural evolution of all this ferocity, obviously, is a Girl vs. Wild film that sounds absolutely terrifying, and so intriguing.
