Sophie Turner Opened Up About Having a Relationship in the Public Eye and How She and Joe Jonas Once Broke Up for 24 Hours
In A Midsummer Night's Dream, William Shakespeare wrote the line, “The course of true love never did run smooth.” And you know what? He was totally right. And we’re pretty sure Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas would agree with Shakespeare’s bold statement. Though the two recently tied the knot in Las Vegas, after being engaged since October 2017, Sophie has revealed that she and Joe actually broke up for a whole 24 hours before realizing they were meant to be together.
In an interview with the U.K.'s The Times, Sophie shared that the breakup didn’t last long for a reason. “It was the worst day of our lives,” she said. “For a second, we both had cold feet, then we were both like, ‘Never mind.’” Thankfully, they changed their minds about the short split and have now embarked on the path to happily ever after.
Sophie shared that she and Joe are super happy, even though they’re constantly followed by paparazzi. “Happiness has just trumped it all," she shared. "You want to be normal, go out without the fear of people hounding you, but if I'm happy then I'm not going to give that up to be private." The Game of Thrones actor and famous Jonas brother have proved more than once that they know how to deal with photographers chasing them around.
Finding happiness has been a journey for Sophie, but she credits Joe with being instrumental in that discovery. “He was like, ‘I can't be with you until you love yourself. I can't see you love me more than you love yourself.’ That was something, him doing that. I think he kind of saved my life, in a way,” she said.
Though Joe and Sophie already made it official in Las Vegas, following the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, they may have another wedding planned for the summer, likely in Europe. We can’t wait to see what surprises the pair have in store for their big day — if we know anything about Sophie and Joe, it’s that they’re never satisfied with the predictable and are going to do things their own way.
