Sophie Turner loved Alex Morgan’s tea-sipping celebration so much she interrupted her honeymoon to congratulate her

The Queen in the North had the final say in this debate. Sophie Turner took time out of her honeymoon to congratulate U.S. women’s soccer player Alex Morgan for her game-winning goal at the July 2nd Women’s World Cup semi-finals. After scoring the final goal against England, Morgan mimed taking a sip of tea in celebration. Some found the move disrespectful, while others defended the soccer player. Turner took her place in the latter camp.

Morgan said in an interview later that week that she meant no disrespect by the gesture, and she was simply referencing Turner’s Instagram Stories in which she shares her honest opinions on topics and calls her gossip “tea.” “My celebration was actually more ‘that’s the tea,’ which is telling a story, spreading news,” Morgan told reporters on July 5th.

And Turner wasn’t about to stay silent while her loyal subject’s motives were questioned. While enjoying her honeymoon post-wedding to Joe Jonas, Turner logged on to show her support for Morgan in a 30-second video.

“Alex Morgan, all those haters that are saying that this was disrespectful… I’m honored that you thought of me,” Turner said. “And all those people that are hating on you are probably sitting at home, millennials drinking kombucha. And I’m really fucking proud of you, Alex Morgan.”

“Congratulations on your win, and that’s the motherfucking tea,” Turner concluded before taking a swig from a giant glass of red wine.

Literally all of us RN:

Twitter was living for the support.

During her Friday interview, Morgan responded to those who were offended by her tea sipping. “I feel that there is some sort of double standard for females in sports to feel like we have to be humble in our successes and have to celebrate but not too much, or do something but always in a limited fashion,” she said, referring to the fact that men in sports often grab their crotches when celebrating goals and wins.

Congrats to Morgan and her teammates for winning the World Cup and congrats to Turner for taking a few seconds to hop online and support a fellow woman. You’re both winners.
