Sophie Turner Calls Out Article Headline About Her Socks and Sandals
When you’re a huge celebrity like Sophie Turner, paparazzi are sure to follow, regardless of whether you’re dressed to the nines at a premiere or hanging out on a casual weekend. But it’s always good to keep in mind that stars aren’t always decked out in couture; they dress in comfy clothes just like the rest of us — as Sophie herself pointed out after a headline called attention to her choice of footwear.
Earlier this week, Page Six published photos of Sophie donning the socks-and-sandals combo, writing on Twitter: “Sophie Turner is attempting to make this controversial trend happen.” On Saturday, August 24, the Game of Thrones star quote-tweeted the article, quipping: “Nah we’ve all been taking out the trash like this for years and you know it.” She added that she’s “not trying to make anything” save for giving her feet some “much needed” TLC. Preach!
Putting aside the fact that Sophie’s chill outfits are super-cute, her tweet highlights an important point: celebs are people too, and while they often arrive on the red carpet looking flawless with the help of a styling team, they are entitled to casual days too, and that includes their attire. Who among us hasn’t thrown on a pair of sandals, flip-flops, or even slippers to step outside to grab the mail or organize the recycling? I certainly wouldn’t want my photo taken and published in those moments, and celebs should be granted the same privacy.
