Sophie Grégoire Trudeau took to Instagram on Friday to share a heartfelt message for International Women's Day.

Accompanied by a carousel of photos featuring herself alongside change-making women, Grégoire Trudeau reflected on the day dedicated to gender equality. Addressing her daughter, Ella-Grace, along with fellow mothers, sisters and sons, Xavier and Hadrien, she posed questions about the state of basic human rights, access to education and freedom.

"Are your basic human rights being respected today? Do you have access to education and a peaceful space to grow in? Are you able to express your authentic self?" she wrote.

"We are lucky enough to be free, while millions of women and girls have no other choice but to answer 'no' to all of these questions. ... Let's keep fighting for justice. Let's be defiant and accept ourselves and our neighbours as they are. Let's elect responsible officials who carry and promote values of compassion and unity. Let's keep educating in order to understand...and love."

She also paid tribute to the trailblazers who have paved the way for women's rights and equality, including Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the first-elected female head of state in Africa.

In the comments, fans applauded Grégoire Trudeau for her inspiring words.

"Happy IWD! To all the women out there making a difference even if you're doing so from your kitchen table," an Instagram user wrote.

Another commented: "Thank you for your advocacy and for putting Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in the spotlight, here. It's important to recognize women from all over the world and not fall into the Western feminist trap where only white feminism exists. So thank you," someone weighed in. "Happy IWD!"

"Happy International Women's Day to you, Sophie. Keep going. You are an inspiration to women everywhere," another commenter added.

Speaking with Narcity in 2023, Grégoire Trudeau opened up about how she's raising her children to embrace feminism and challenge traditional gender roles.

"I'm raising two boys. I'm raising boys, and I see them as wonderful creatures with the same potential and creativity as my girl," she said.

"I think that if we don't talk about the toxic masculinity and principles and cultures that our boys are living in, we won't be able to address the true root causes of the problem that girls and women face in our society."
