Sophie Ellis-Bextor has arrived on the red carpet for the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards ahead of her much-anticipated performance of her hit song "Murder on the Dance Floor" at this evening's ceremony.

"It's such a glorious thing to be doing the BAFTAs," Ellis-Bextor said to the EE BAFTA correspondent.

The song, which was first released 23 years ago, has gone viral on social media after its appearance in the BAFTA-nominated film Saltburn. The film follows two Oxford University students during their summer of debauchery.

Ellis-Bextor said she didn't know much about the film but took her family to a weekday screening to see it, which is where she discovered how her song was used.

The singer had nothing but praise for the "hedonistic evil triumph" she saw. "It's very much my kind of film - dark and funny and twisted and clever - so I'm very proud to be a small part of it".

Teasing her performance tonight, she said, "I just want to get out there and have a good time", and she's hoping to "make everybody bop a little bit in their seats".

"My job is just to provide a little cheeky icebreaker," she said.

Tonight's EE BAFTA Film Awards will be broadcast on BBC and available across BritBox International in the USA, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, South Africa and Australia.
