Sophie, Countess of Wessex Rocked a Jumpsuit at the Royal Ascot
Sophie, Countess of Wessex, the wife of Prince Edward, wore a navy Emilia Wickstead jumpsuit to day three of the Royal Ascot 2019.
Last year, she also wore a jumpsuit by the designer to the elite horse race.
Jumpsuits are included in the official dress code for the Royal Enclosure at the classy event.
There was no Meghan Markle or Kate Middleton at the Royal Ascot today, but that doesn't mean the English event was completely devoid of style. Sophie, Countess of Wessex brought the royal fashion to the annual horse race in a navy Emilia Wickstead jumpsuit-a refreshing break from from ladylike frocks and gowns at the high-society occasion.
The glam one-piece featured a deep V neckline, pleated pant legs, and a thick accent belt at the waist. Countess Sophie-wife of Prince Edward, the queen and Prince Philip's youngest child-matched the look with the perfect hat, along with high heels and a coordinating clutch.
Before you jump to conclusions, no, wearing pants is not against "royal protocol" at the Ascot. The elite horse race may have an extremely strict dress code for the Royal Enclosure, which is where the royals and their guests hang out at the event, but thankfully the guidelines do allow for women to wear pants. (It is 2019 after all!) Believe it or not, the dress code was just amended to allow jumpsuits in 2017.
One line in the dress code reads: "Jumpsuits are welcome. They should fall below the knee, with regulations matching that for dresses."
This also isn't the first time Countess Sophie has worn a jumpsuit to the famous racecourse. Last year, she wore a pleated robin's egg blue wide-leg design, which was also by Emilia Wickstead.
