Sony is reportedly tapping X-Men: First Class writer Sheldon Turner to adapt Days Gone into a film, with Outlanders' Sam Heughan set to star as the lead. According to a new report from Deadline, the video game giant is hoping to follow on the success of Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg's Uncharted by adapting another one of its video games into a live-action film, much like its current work with HBO on The Last of Us.

Bend Studio developed and released Days Gone back in 2019 and while the PlayStation title sold a decent 9 million units, the game really gained wider popularity among gaming fans when it was ported over to PC back in 2021, earning a "Very Positive" rating over on Steam with more than 26,000 reviews submitted.

The game itself is set in the Pacific Northwest in the aftermath of a global pandemic, turning masses of people into mutated beings in a similar fashion as The Last of Us. Players were put into the shoes of former motorcycle club member Deacon St. John, who rides his motorcycle while fighting for survival as he tries to find his long-lost partner, who was presumed dead at the time.

For fans of the original game, stay tuned for more updates to come.

Elsewhere in entertainment, HBO Max has dropped a teaser for The Last of Us.
