Sonic’s fries are getting an update after more than 10 years. Here’s what to know

Sonic is changing its French fries for the first time in more than a decade.

The new, “improved” groovy fries will roll out at Sonic Drive-Ins nationwide in May, according to a news release. The chain is also launching a new groovy sauce for dipping.

“Our SONIC® Tots are iconic, but we thought it was time to give them some competition,” Mackenzie Gibson, vice president of culinary and menu innovation at Sonic, said in a news release.

The new fries are crisp on the outside “while soft and fluffy on the inside” and have deep grooves that are ideal for dipping, according to a product description.

Fans of the fried spuds can pair them with the groovy sauce featuring ranch and herb flavors with a hint of spicy sriracha.

Prices vary by location, the restaurant said.
