The Sold-Out Adidas Harden Vol. 8 Sneaker Is Getting a New ‘Blue Fusion’ Colorway in May

James Harden’s eighth signature sneaker is getting a new colorway that aligns with the colors of his Los Angeles Clippers.

The Adidas Harden Vol. 8 “Blue Fusion” will release at the beginning of May as the fifth colorway of the hit sneaker. A straightforward color scheme sees the EVA cage rendered in bone white, while the rest of the sneaker — knit upper, outsole, laces and all — appears in deep blue. Red is the only omission holding it back from being a one-to-one homage to the Clippers.

Since making its debut in February, the Harden Vol. 8 has been a major hit for Adidas and has sold out in every colorway released thus far. The Harden line hasn’t enjoyed that amount of hype in quite some time, if ever, and the shoe’s out-there design comes as part of a wider realignment for Adidas Basketball.

The Adidas AE 1, Anthony Edwards’ first signature sneaker, shares some of the same design language and has also been a major hit since its own debut in December. In a Footwear News feature story on the AE 1, Eric Wise, global GM for Adidas Basketball, said: “When we looked at the performance basketball space, we felt that the consumer today is much less brand loyal and looking for newness. So we saw an opportunity there, and we took a look ourselves and said, ‘Over the last decade, if we’re honest, we’ve been inconsistent at best.’ We wanted to get back to being the best version of Adidas.”

The Adidas Harden Vol. 8 “Blue Fusion” will release May 1 through Adidas’ website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $160.
