How the Total Solar Eclipse in Aries of April 2023 Will Affect Each Zodiac Sign

The first eclipse season of 2023 has arrived, and the influence of red-hot Mars is as prominent as ever. However, before we discuss how the total solar eclipse in Aries will affect each zodiac sign, it’s important to note that this solar eclipse in Aries will be the first of an eclipse series that will continue until March 2025. It’s also the first eclipse in Aries since September 2015, so be sure to check where this cardinal fire sign lives in your birth chart for more reference.

Eclipses can be intimidating for sure, but this typically stems from our fear of the unknown. Astrologically, they are considered powerful catalysts for change—both individually and at a collective level—as they usher in powerful new beginnings that could sometimes feel too abrupt for our liking. Nevertheless, their spiritual influence is equivalent to divine intervention because these “disruptions” and unexpected shakeups propel us toward our destiny in the long run.

Solar eclipses occur during a new moon—when the moon passes between the sun and Earth— but this isn’t your typical solar eclipse, as it is not only the second new moon of the astrological season but also what is considered to be a “hybrid solar eclipse,” which is a combination of an annular and total eclipse. This is also the second lunar cycle kicking off via the sign of Aries; the first started in March during the spring equinox. However, the consistency and momentum of energies continue to build strength, which should not be overlooked.

That said, April’s solar eclipse will occur on April 20 at 12:12 a.m. ET via 29 degrees of Aries. Assertive and audacious with its approach, Aries’ cardinal fires evoke strength, courage and determination. However, the dark side is that too much fire could be hostile, leading to impulsivity and rage. What’s even more intriguing is the first new moon in Aries was via zero degrees, and this one will be at 29. Both of these degrees are considered karmic points in astrology, which continues to validate the magnitude of these new beginnings.

Mars—which happens to be Aries’ ruling planet—is also transiting hypersensitive Cancer, where it’s said to be in its detriment. Here, the planet of assertion, action, energy, and war can’t move as fast as it would like to; it’s also prone to indirect behavior and emotional volatility. Having said that, Mars will be squaring off with Chiron—the wounded healer—during this eclipse, which continues to highlight the areas where we might’ve felt a void or a sense of vulnerability. This energy is ongoing, so it’s important to hold space for your past wounds and emotional needs.

April’s solar eclipse will also be at odds with powerhouse Pluto—after its recent ingress into Aquarius—which could bring light to everything from our sense of power to the individuals we aspire to become in the long run. If there’s anger attached to your eclipse story, try to take a step back and reflect on what is triggering this energy. Does this “outlook” align with your personal truth and/or the person you’re becoming?

Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming total solar eclipse in Aries, according to sun sign and/or rising sign (and seriously, you’re missing out if you don’t read these horoscopes for your rising sign):
