Solange Asks Fans To Help Decide Her Met Gala 2018 Look

With the 2018 Met Gala just hours away, it’s understandable that some attendees might be stressing over their look for the annual event, it is basically fashion prom after all. This might explain why Solange Knowles used a different approach to decide what to wear on that famed red carpet: crowdsourcing.

On Sunday night, Solange took to Twitter to share four potential Met Gala ensembles. In tweets that have since been deleted, she wrote: “dead ass about to let y’all pick my met gala look cuz i can’t handle the anxiety rn.”

She then referenced this year’s Met Gala theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” and asked, “which saint shall I draw energy from and pull up to the function as?” She posted four looks total, two of which appear to be the same strapless, black structured dress paired with different headpieces. Another option is an all-white dress that features a mock neck, fitted bodice, and floor-sweeping cape. The final contender is a more revealing piece that’s got cutouts, a micro mini skirt, and some sparkly full-body cage thing.

Following the initial post, she took a poll for her fans to help her decide. "ok I need a poll cuz this caused me more anxiety," she wrote. The clear winner? The white dress.

Solange is no stranger to epic Met Gala looks. Last year, she wore a super chill Thom Browne black puffer coat with a structured Mark Cross Grace Mini Box bag. The 2017 event honored Rei Kawakubo of Japanese fashion house Comme des Garçons. In 2016, she rocked a David Laport dress in lemonade yellow with accordion-like pleats. That look was topped off with a pair of latex leg warmers and lucite sandals.

And who can forget the silky, sherbet-hued 3.1 Phillip Lim gown she wore on the red carpet in 2014. Of course, that was also the year when Solange got into a heated (and physical) argument with her brother-in-law Jay-Z. The whole encounter went down in an elevator as the two (along with Beyoncé) left a Met Gala after-party at the top of the Standard Hotel — and everything was caught on tape.

While we’re not sure how Solange’s unofficial Met Gala Twitter poll turned out, we’re pretty confident that she’ll make a statement in whatever she decides to wear for the big event.
