Sofia Vergara says the secret to ageless beauty is great ‘jeans’—so she launched a denim line for women of all ages and sizes

When you think of ageless actresses, a handful of over-40 beauties always spring to mind. There’s Halle Berry, and of course the two Jennifers: Aniston and Lopez. But don’t forget to make room for the always vivacious—and somehow always-turning-25—Sofia Vergara.

The 47-year old actress does seem to be aging backward, so we were compelled to ask her, “What’s your secret?” Thankfully, Vergara spilled her ultimate fountain-of-youth trick: knowing how to dress for your body.

“I try to embrace life, whatever my age,” Vergara exclusively shares with Yahoo Lifestyle. “I know what looks best on my body, so I wear what accentuates the positive [and what] detracts from those things [I] don’t want to emphasize.”

And while it helps to have excellent genes, Vergara knows that what accentuates her figure best is a great pair of jeans.

That’s why the actress designed a covet-worthy denim collection exclusively for Walmart, and made sure to represent all sizes—and that applies to both bodies and budgets. The line ranges from sizes 0 to 22, and each style rings in at less than $40.

Vergara just launched a new collection for spring, and it has everything from skinny jeans to flares to flirty lace-up sides. There’s also plenty of white denim, perfect for rocking all spring and summer long. Goodbye, expensive designer jeans.

“When I started the Sofia Jeans collection, I embraced that every woman is different and designed with that in mind,” she says. “I’m proud that we offer amazing denim in sizes 0-22, allowing women of all sizes to work what they’ve got. For me, the most important asset is a woman’s confidence.”

The Sofia Jeans collection features styles that are figure-hugging (yet still stretchy), high-waisted, mid-rise, full-length, and cropped—plus plenty of distressed styles. The jeans have been praised by reviewers as the comfiest they own—and undeniably flattering, of course. Mothers especially praised the look, and one even raved about how a pair of Rosa skinny jeans “hugged in [her] mama pooch.”

For Vergara, each pair of jeans is personal. Each style is named after an influential woman in her life, and because each of these women has a different body type, it was important to her that the line was size-inclusive.

“One ‘trick’ to creating the perfect pair is to not just create one,” she reveals. “Denim isn’t a one-size-fits-all thing, and a little stretch can be good for every body type.”

The key to finding that one wear-anywhere pair of jeans isn’t to get hooked on the trendy style of the moment. Vergara suggests looking for a style that makes you feel confident and sexy, while also accentuating your silhouette, and making that your signature style. For the actress, that means a Sofia Skinny with a heel—or, on more casual days, the Bagi Boyfriend fit.

The star doesn’t prioritize hiding a tummy or appearing thinner or curvier, either. For her, it’s about adding height.

“I love to pair my skinny jeans with a show-stopping heel, whether it’s a strappy sandal or a pump with a little extra height,” she notes. “You stand up taller, make your legs look longer and [it] helps you walk into any room with confidence.”

And if you’re wearing a sexy heel, you want to show it off, right? Vergara learned the most clever way to do this while on the set of Modern Family.

“One trick [the stylist and I] often use is to cuff or roll a hem,” she explains. “Whether you’re trying to hide a raw hem for a cleaned-up look or adding a large cuff to make a statement, these tweaks can totally change the look of a pair of jeans and show off a great pair of heels.”

Vergara might’ve secretly worn her Sofia Skinny jeans while shooting the sitcom, but that’s not the only place she’s rocked them. The star wore her favorite styles on a trip to Paris with husband Joe Manganiello, too. Vergara even shared photos her husband took of her rocking the styles—though, like Vergara, he can’t pick a favorite.

“He loves me in all of them,” she says.
