Sofia Vergara Fans Believe the 'Modern Family' Star Is Working on a Secret Project

Since saying goodbye to her Modern Family character Gloria Delgado-Pritchett two years ago, Sofia Vergara has starred as herself on NBC’s competition series America’s Got Talent. Most recently, the Colombian-born actress revealed she’s returning to acting but fans think she isn’t working on just one new project.

In November 2021, Deadline reported that Sofia had been cast as Griselda Blanco in the Netflix limited series Griselda. Apart from playing the Black Widow, she was also set to executive produce the six-episode show. Now, with America’s Got Talent just around the corner, Sofia is getting ready to sit next to her fellow judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum.

But after spotting her with a new hairdo, many folks think the actress is secretly working on a different project — they believe she’s going to play Evelyn Hugo in the newly announced Netflix movie.

ICYMI: Just a few days before Sofia’s selfie, the streamer shared on March 24 that The New York Times best-selling novel The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo is going to be turned into a film. Though author Taylor Jenkins Reid released the historical fiction title back in June 2017, it picked up in popularity again thanks to bibliophiles on the social media app TikTok.

“YOU RETURNED TO BLOND BECAUSE YOU'RE GOING TO INTERPRET EVELYN HUGO RIGHT??” one person wrote to Sofia. “EVELYN HUGO?????” another added.

That said, neither Netflix nor the former Modern Family star have confirmed this to be the case. The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo centers around reclusive Hollywood legend Evelyn Hugo who tells her life story to unknown journalist Monique Grant. She recalls her rise to fame during the Golden Age of Hollywood, her seven marriages and incredible secrets.

Fans of the book may have heard that a Freeform show was in development, but after that didn't come to fruition, Netflix is bringing it to life in a feature. Whether or not Sofia will be the lead in the new project isn’t known at this point. But many folks already feel like she’s the perfect fit.
