Three months later, they were married. Soccer player Abby Wambach quietly married blogger Glennon Doyle Melton on Sunday, May 14, and the couple shared the first photos from the secret wedding ceremony the following day.

Melton and Wambach both took to Instagram to post kissing snapshots from the wedding, simply captioning the photos, “5.14.17.” For the occasion, the athlete wore a bright red jacket with her short hair slicked back. Melton opted for a softer look, wearing a gown with a slate gray bodice and a long, white skirt.

The couple got engaged in February 2017, after announcing their relationship last November The popular Christian mom blogger shared that she was divorcing her husband of 14 years for Wambach, who announced she was leaving her first wife, Sarah Huffman, as well.

“Her name is Abby. You might recognize her from soccer. She was one of the best players of all time, and she has been a fierce and committed advocate for women’s equality for a decade. And honestly? Those are the least impressive things about her,” Melton wrote at the time. “I learn from her everyday about the woman I want to become. She is committed to her friends and family. She has this sense of country and honor and chivalry that feels beautiful to me. She cares about the vulnerable- children and animals especially. She’s unwaveringly good to Craig, to the kids, to Sister and to all my people. And oh my God, she is so good to me. She loves me for all the things I’ve always wanted to be loved for. She’s just my favorite. My person.”
