Soap star Nick Benedict, who was perhaps most known for his work on Days of Our Lives, with brief stints on All My Children and The Young and the Restless, too, has died. He was 77.

The news broke thanks to a simple Facebook post over the weekend from Jake’s Steakhouse in Tehachapi, California, where the late actor's wife, Ginger Benedict, is a bartender.

"Nick Benedict’s birthday was July 14. He went to be with the Lord this day," the post read. "Please pray for Ginger."

It also included a link to a GoFundMe page created by another employee of the steakhouse. The fundraiser was launched a week ago, as Ginger took a leave of absence "to handle an extreme medical issue" with Nick.

According to the description, Nick had emergency spinal cord surgery on July 2, 2023. Unfortunately, on July 4, he was admitted to hospice care, paralyzed from the neck down.

While the steakhouse is located in Calif. the pair lived in Arizona, with Ginger traveling back and forth, so the fundraiser aimed to help with bills, food and other medical expenses.

Barbara Ferrante, the owner of the restaurant, confirmed the news to Fox News.

In addition to acting, Benedict was also a musician and a painter, who also spent time in the Navy. He and Ginger were married for 22 years.

Other members of their community sent their love in comments alongside donations or on social media.

"We have known Ginger and Nick since moving to Bear Valley 19 years ago," one friend wrote. "They were such a part of the community in every way, and always great fun. So sorry!"

Another suggested hosting an in-person fundraiser at the steakhouse, assuming, "The place would be packed!!"

Joe Solomito, a cameraman on All My Children, sent his regards as well, sharing, "what a cool guy. mingled with the crew just a regular guy. i had a bmw 2002 that i loved and parked it outside the brownstone Nick lived in on the west side. he had one of the scenic artists paint what looked like a cracked windshield on my car. no need to say he was casually sitting on the stoop waiting for my reaction. needless to say he was not disappointed. RIP Nick. you helped make coming to work fun."
