What’s in a name? Quite a lot, if you’re Jennifer Lopez.

At the launch of her Giuseppe for Jennifer Lopez shoe collection, the entertainer revealed that four of the five styles from her new line rock the names of her closest female companions.

“Family is my stability. They are so solid for me. When you think of shoes, you think of being grounded. There was a connection there for me,” she tells Yahoo Style. “So I took my cousin Tianna, my sisters Leslie, Lynda, and [daughter] Emme, and decided that I was going to honor them with that.”

Lopez says her ladies appreciated the gesture. “Lynda wrote me and was like, ‘There’s a shoe named after me?’ I was like, ‘Yes. Do you like it? I wanted to name that one after me!’” she exclaimed.

Giuseppe for Jennifer Lopez, which range from $795 to $2,995, come in six styles including:

  • Tiana: A crystal-adorned hidden wedge, mid-top sneaker with lateral zips and bar buckles.

  • Lynda: A corset-style, lace-up, open-toe bootie outfitted in crystals with a mirrored leather heel.

  • Leslie: A minimal sandal with wraparound ankle straps.

  • Emme high: A gladiator high-heel sandal with wraparound straps that rises from the ankle to the knee.

  • Emme flat: A flat wraparound sandal.

And naturally, Lopez named a shoe after herself: the Jen, a cut-out, open-toe suede bootie with a modern corset design.

The lady of the hour arrived at the Beverly Hills Neiman Marcus launch hand-in-hand with Giuseppe Zanotti and posed on the red carpet in a front-slit dress, which she paired with the Leslie. “It my favorite in the line because it’s the sleekest and the sexiest and kind of minimal,” she explained. “I love the blush pink and the crystals and just that little bit of detail. It’s very me. It’s something that I would wear so often.”

Lopez and her entourage made their way into the store around 8:45pm, when she took a podium and addressed the crowd.

“This is a dream come true to me – a little girl who used to have holes in her shoes back in the day — to actually be here with such an amazing artist that I’ve admired for so long. Thank you so much for coming out!” She spent the remainder of the evening mingling with fans and autographing shoes that were purchased on site.
