It Snowed Twice in Las Vegas This Week — and More Is Coming for Arizona
The idea of jetting off to Las Vegas typically conjures up thoughts of warm weather, sunny days, and maybe catching a show or two. However, if you’re heading to Vegas this week hoping for summer-like weather, we’re sorry to inform you, you bet on the wrong time.
Snow — yes, snow — fell last night on the Las Vegas Strip thanks to a winter storm making its way through the Southwest. According to NBC, the city of Henderson, Nevada, which sits just southeast of Las Vegas, received nearly an inch of snow Wednesday night. Temperatures fell to the low 30s, according to the National Weather Service, making it a prime spot for the white stuff to fall.

What is perhaps even more remarkable is the fact that this is the second time snow has fallen in Las Vegas just this week. This weather phenomenon, NBC explained, is thanks to snow levels dropping to 2,000 feet.
Though the storm may put a damper on some people’s travel plans, it at least makes for really cool social media content.

And surely, a bit of snowfall in Vegas is fun, however, their neighbors in Arizona are getting walloped by the same system. According to AZ Central, the system will move through Arizona on Thursday and Friday and some areas could see as much as two feet of snow. Coconino County in Arizona already activated its Emergency Operations Center, schools have been canceled, and some highways have already been closed. If you’re traveling through the area make sure exercise extreme caution. And, if you’re going to Vegas, you might want to swap out your bikini for a winter coat.
