Nate Bargatze is the name on everyone's mind this week as he's set to host the Saturday Night Live Halloween episode on October 28 along with musical guest the Foo Fighters. While he has an army of loyal fans, he's not as much of a household name as some past SNL hosts like Kim Kardashian or Travis Kelce. So, who is Nate Bargatze and what can we expect from him on Saturday night?

Bargatze (pronounced bar-get-see) is a 44-year-old stand-up comedian originally from Old Hickory, Tennessee just outside of Nashville. He's been in the stand-up biz for over 20 years now and is hailed as the "Nicest Man in Stand-Up." Nate poked fun at his reputation in a promo for the episode.

All of his shows are family friendly, a rarity in the world of comedy, which he attributes to a desire to not upset his Southern Baptist parents. Bargatze has been married to Laura Baines, who is often the subject of his bits, since 2006 and they share an 11-year-old daughter, Harper Blair.

Nate's father Stephen Bargatze is a motivational speaker and magician, and the opening act for Nate's current tour: "The Be Funny Tour." Aside from touring around the country, Bargatze also has a variety of shows available to stream. Fans can watch Nate's specials The Tennessee Kid and The Greatest Average American on Netflix along with his appearance on The Standups. Another one of his specials, Hello World, streams on Prime Video while Full Time Magic streams on Paramount+.

Though his comedy career didn't take off until later in his life, he's making his way towards being one of the most well-loved and celebrated comedians in America. In 2022, he was nominated for a Grammy for Best Comedy Album and recently he broke Nashville's Bridgestone Arena's attendance record for a comedy show with 19,365 attendees. With his accolades he seems like a natural fit for SNL, and is sure to have an iconic monologue.
