The show opened with a clip from the 2006 'Saturday Night Live' archives.

The Saturday Night Live Christmas Special kicked off tonight with a throwback and spirited serenade from three of the show's most applauded comedians: Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Kristen Wiig

The sketch featured the festive and catchy tune "Santa's My Boyfriend," which made its original debut back in 2006, during Season 32 of the late-night show.

In it, the three ladies are in matching plaid dresses and standing beside a Christmas tree, putting the finishing touches on it. As they converse, they discover that they have someone in common before breaking into a song about it.

After Wiig asks the girls about their Christmas plans, Rudolph reveals that she's spending it with someone super special, referring to him as "my guy." Shortly after, Wiig and Poehler chimed in to say the same–and that's when the musical number begins.

Through song, the three ladies come to understand that they've all been seeing the same guy. While they tease the lines of popular Christmas carols, it's apparent who they're talking about: the man of the hour, Santa Claus

“My boyfriend knows when I’m sleeping, he always treats me right,” Rudolph belted before the three came together, chanting the first version of the chorus, "He knows if I’ve been bad or good, but when I’m naughty, he thinks it’s nice. Santa’s my boyfriend; oh yes, Santa’s the one that I love.”

As the stars continued to sing, it became clear that not only was Santa cheating on each of them with each other, but he was still married to Mrs. Claus at the time–looks like Ol' Saint Nick is overdue for some coal!
