SNL Brings the Gross "Diner Lobster" Sequel We Need Now

In a sea of celebrity cameos as random Trump administrations dunces, one of the most memorable sketches SNL's last season was the surreal "Diner Lobster," a cautionary tale about ordering live seafood mashed together with Les Mis. With John Mulaney's return as host on Saturday, the show explored another dark, rarely-visited part of city: bodega bathrooms.

When Pete Davidson asks for the bathroom key at a bodega, he's guided by a Willy Wonka-esque bodega cat, played by Kenan Thompson, who tells him,"You're the first person to use this bathroom that's not a dog giving birth." Like "Diner Lobster," the sketch is an exercise in "more is more," riffing on RENT, Cats, and Little Shop of Horrors, and bringing out Kate McKinnon as a giant Virgin Mary candle.

Fingers crossed SNL can keep this up without running the premise into the ground.
