In part one of the two-part season 2 finale of NCIS: Hawai’i, Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) is found stooping over the body of a dead former MI6 agent, which brings Jane's past to light and uncovers secrets best kept hidden, forcing her to go to extreme lengths to track down the killer.
“I made a mistake and I need to fix it,” she says.
One of the extreme lengths Jane goes to is going MIA and flying to Florence, Colorado to get some face time with her former CIA mentor and best friend Maggie Shaw (Julie White), who is serving prison time for feeding secrets to the Chinese government.
But her team doesn’t know what’s going on as is obvious from this exclusive clip from tonight’s episode, which takes place at the NCIS offices in Pearl Harbor.

Jesse (Noah Miles): “Why don’t you break it to Tennant since you’re her favorite?”
Kai (Alex Tarrant): “I think it would have more gravitas coming from you, her senior agent.”
Jesse: “Rock, paper, scissors.”
Kai: “All right”
Jesse loses when he chooses rock and Kai chooses paper, but then they notice Jane isn’t in her office, but a stranger is.
Jesse asks, “Excuse me. Who are you?”

Guess what? It’s Lost star Henry Ian Cusick, who has returned to Hawaii to guest star on the “Past Due” episode of NCIS: Hawai’i.

He says, “Sorry, I get engrossed in my work. Supervisory Agent John Swift, OSP.”
Kai: “That’s Office of Special Projects.”
John: “We handle grey-area cases. For instance, Jane Tennant’s involvement in yesterday’s murder.”
Jesse: “There’s nothing special about that.”
John: “The body of the Hawai’i NCIS SAC was found standing over the body of a former MI6 agent, who had a copy of a fake passport with her photo on it. Probably warrants an inquiry, plus she’s missing.
Kai: “She’s not missing.”
John: “Really? She booked a flight to Colorado last night and has been unreachable. But I’m open to your interpretation of what that means.”

Just then Lucy (Yasmine Al-Bustami) enters Jane’s office, interrupting the conversation, saying, “Did you know that Tennant checked into ADX Florence to meet with…” She pauses when she sees John, a stranger, and instead of naming names, says, “you know who?” Then she turns to John and says, “Hi, you are?”
He responds, “Supervisory Agent John Swift, Office of Special Projects. I am partnering in your investigation.”
Jesse: “Investigation of Tennant?”
Lucy: “Partnering?”
John: "I like to think of us as partners. I am senior partner. Now, why don’t you fill me in on you know who.”
It’s going to be up to the team to figure out where she is and how to get her out of the trouble she puts herself in.
NCIS: Hawai’i airs tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
