A slithering trespasser brought a stop to a cricket match on Monday in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Lanka Premier League’s game between Galle Titans and the Dambulla Aura came to a swift halt when a massive snake took over the field.

Footage shows beguiled players standing around the sidelines as the snake slides across the field. The game’s announcers are audibly startled, as well.

“Oh gosh, look at that. Woof. [That’s the] one thing that frightens me,” one of the commentators admits. “I just don’t want to be anywhere close.”

As an umpire enters the field to shoo the snake away by stomping on the ground, the commentator continues.

“What a sight. Never seen anything like this on a cricket field. I think we’ve gotta wait for him to just exit… It's a massive one, right?”

The umpire is finally able to clear the snake, though reportedly at this point the creature entered the dugout of the Galle Titans. However, this was not captured on camera.

Lanka Premier League shared the hilarious footage on their Twitter page. “Hello, stranger. Where is your accreditation card?” the caption reads. “Even the Sri Lankan wildlife can't resist the action at the LPL!”

Although it's common for dogs and cats to stray onto cricket fields during matches, many fans remarked that they had never seen a snake before. League management called a wildlife rescue team to assist. After the unticketed spectator was removed from the stadium, the game continued as scheduled.
