Months after Will Smith assaulted Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars, the actor attempted to apologize and explain a few things, including whether or not his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, told him to react.

Smith uploaded a video on YouTube of himself answering various questions about the Academy Awards incident on the internet, including one that asked, "After Jada rolled her eyes, did she tell you to do something?"

The 53-year-old first stated a straightforward answer, "No," before explaining, "I made a choice on my own, from my own experiences, from my history with Chris. Jada had nothing to do with it."

After a moment, Smith apologized to his family, saying, "I’m sorry, babe. I want to say sorry to my kids and my family for the heat that I brought on all of us."

In the immediate aftermath of the incident between Smith and Rock this March, many people questioned Pinkett Smith's involvement in her husband's decision to approach the comedian after he made a joke about her bald head, which is a result of alopecia.

Buzzfeed News and other outlets reported on a video supposedly showing Pinkett Smith laughing after Smith slapped Rock, but when Smith yelled to Rock, "Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth,” she appeared confused at his behavior.

Pinkett Smith revealed her thoughts about her husband's actions on her Facebook Watch show, Red Table Talk. In an episode centered around alopecia, the host took a moment to address the situation, saying, "My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile."

She continued, "The state of the world today, we need them both. And we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening.”
