Small Wisconsin Ski Area Holding On To Winter Despite Early Spring

Despite a warm Wisconsin winter, Trollhaugen Ski Area isn't ready to throw in the towel quite yet.

Yesterday, the resort shared videos of snow-covered slopes, telling its clientele, "Don't let Mother Nature trick you into thinking it's over quite yet."

It's been a tough winter for snow enthusiasts in parts of Wisconsin, with certain regions experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures and low snowfall.

Earlier this week, WeAreGreenbay reported that Green Bay—across the state from Trollhaugen—"recorded its warmest winter on record and by a good margin."

And WKOW stated that Polk County, where Trollhaugen is located, only received 10-25% of the usual January snowfall this winter. WKOW also noted that February 2024 would likely be the second hottest statewide, with temperatures reaching 13 degrees above average.

As always, though, Trollhaugen remains undeterred, blowing snow whenever possible. Temperatures this week might play, as NOAA calls for below-freezing nights, offering the ski area's mountain ops teams snowmaking opportunities.

If there's one thing you can count on, it's that Trollhaugen isn't going down without a fight.
