Here's one: An entire town in Pennsylvania undergoes a serious makeover to turn into a Christmas wonderland every year—and you should seriously consider visiting.

Bethlehem, PA is where all of the holiday magic happens starting at the end of November. One of the most popular events of the season are the Christmas Huts on Main, where local artisans and businesses set up shop in tiny light-draped stores to sell holiday-themed merchandise.

“Bethlehem, Pennsylvania is quintessential holiday cheer,” Alicia Quinn, the vice president of marketing and strategic alliances for Discover Lehigh Valley, told Travel + Leisure. “Simply stroll the twinkling lights on Main Street, tour the historic buildings decorated with candles, and shop endless handmade collectables to capture a traditional holiday memory.”

This year, the town is holding its first-ever "Clash of the Carols"—aka an a capella choir competition that'll turn any Scrooge into a holiday spirit fanatic in no time. You can ride horse-drawn carriages in the downtown area, check out the fantastic displays during the window decorating competition, and see the 81-foot-tall steel star that sits above a Christmas market, which features live music and glass-blowing displays. There's also a live Advent calendar—the only one in the country—that counts down the days to Christmas starting on December 1.
