This Sloth Rug Is So Cute It’s Making Me Mad
I'm of the firm belief that every house (maybe even every room!) should have at least one piece that makes you smile whenever you see it. It could be a really whimsical and fun lamp, or a giant, unavoidable statement piece of art, or a well-traveled item that you picked out of a flea market in a Parisian alley. Or it could be this fuzzy sloth rug that I need, in my life, at this moment.
Will you just look at this thing? Created by Marmalade, Bed Bath & Beyond's kids' label, the rug is 2.5 feet by 6 feet and I'm no zoologist but that sounds about life-sized. It's handcrafted from 100 percent wool, and the majority of the pile stands one inch high. Just think of how plush and lovely that would feel between your toes! The pile on the sloth's face appears to be a little bit shorter, which helps create the detailing rendered in dark gray thread—the sweet closed eyes, round nose, and sleeping grin.
Now, the obvious choice for a rug like this is in a nursery or children's room, but as I am neither a baby nor a child nor in possession of either, I can imagine it in so many other places! It'd be funny in an entry way, or placed in the corner of a living room so a dog can reside on it, or in front of an armchair in a reading nook. Or, yes, in an adult's bedroom, so it's the first thing you place your feet on in the morning. Talk about waking up on the adorable side of the bed!
